Being a Mom

Being a MOM.  No one tells you how hard it’s going to be at your baby shower.  Everyone oohs and ahhs at the adorable tiny clothes, the beautiful bassinet, the fun toys and colorful picture books…  It’s raising kids that is the biggest challenge–raising kids to be confident, kind, empathetic, passionate, articulate learners and calm yet determined and self-sufficient human beings.  Being a mom requires patience mixed with humor, attention to detail, an open mind and heart, and a thoughtful and loving spirit.  Whether you are a stay-at-home mom or a part-time or full-time working mom, I know we ALL have a lot on our plates, and much is expected of us by our families and our children.  I just wanted to share with you, today, that we are ALL doing enough.  We are good enough moms, wives, partners, sisters, daughters, aunts, professionals, volunteers.  I hear from a lot of my friends who have kids that they feel, like me, often overwhelmed and stretched thin by everything on their daily to do list.  I just want to take a minute to let you all know that you are NOT alone, that so many other moms like you face the same challenges and failures and successes.  So, to all the Moms, here’s a big round of appreciation and respect and admiration for all that you are and all that you do!
