Creating, Living and Loving The Life of your Dreams!

George EliotWhen I grow up, I want to be _____.  From the time we’re little, we’re asked the question, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” by every adult in our lives.

While our dreams and aspirations may change over time as we hone in on our passions and pursue our education, I think it’s important to continue to ask ourselves this big, overarching question.  Whether you’re 18, 25, 35, 45 or 65 and reading this post, you have a lot of life left to live.  How do you want to spend your time and devote your energy? Are you happy with the way you are using your time?

I’ve always loved psychology and sociology and enjoy ruminating on some of the larger questions about life. Once upon a time, I even thought I might pursue a PhD in sociology and go on to teach at the college level. I find human beings infinitely fascinating and in particular, I love learning and writing about personal development, positivity and living an empowered life.  Empowerment means living a life of your own creation, guided by your passions and interests and not rooted in fear.  While fear can certainly motivate us to a point, passion sustains!  Passion + a goal + hard work + follow through + enthusiasm are a winning combination that I wish I could bottle up and sell!  But, really, we all have the capacity to make great life choices that will help us create the life for ourselves that we’ve always dreamed of.

Ask yourself, what do you most want to achieve in your lifetime?  What’s on your bucket list?  What do you love to do?  What would you do with your time if you had no other responsibilities or financial worries?  Ask yourself some of these hard questions and then devote the time to create an action plan to put your life on your own just right path.  No one can tell you what’s going to make you feel happy and fulfilled.  It’s up to each of us to be mindful, to reflect and listen to that quiet voice inside ourselves.  Trust yourself, follow your intuition and then, if necessary, make small, incremental changes to put you on the path toward living your own best life!  This is, after all, your life, your choices, your plans.  It’s wonderful–and yet at the same time, a bit overwhelming–to realize that you are fully in charge and capable of creating the life of your dreams!
